A Ride to Work

My new bike cost me 5 bucks at a garage sale. It squeaks, rattles, and takes around 15 seconds for the brakes to make the bike stop, but even though she is old and rusty I still love her.
This morning I took my bike to the Canyon trail next to my house to get to work. It was the best 10 minutes of my week...the trail twists along this little creak where the other bikers smile as they pass(or they are making fun of my loud bike). It was an epic cruise....the whole way I was thinking of nothing, living, loving the now, I wanted to be no where else in the world but on my little old bike. It was like the world gave me a gift today, and I remember how much the small things in life matter.
"Do not think I am not grateful for your small
kindness to me.
I like the small kindnesses.
In fact I prefer them to the more
substantial kindness."
